If you know me well you know I don’t usually do beads, pearls and stones, but for my good friend Abigail I will make an exception.  This three tiered necklace is knotted every three beads, included gold filled linked pearls and crystals.  Abigail and I picked the colors and beads together to match her dress for her sister’s wedding.  Also note the colored wire at the base of the three strands, it’s blue, is Niobium, one of my favorite, most colorful reactive metals.  Reactive metals can be colored through anodizing – basically you put the reactive metal into a bath and shoot volts of electricity through the bath…at a specific voltage a surface is grown on the metal, and a specific wavelength of color is refracted and perceived by the human eye.  Pretty neat, no?

New Commission Work: Love/Hate Pendants

Here are two new silver pendants.  Commissioned for an emerging urban/street wear brand, these pendants say “love” and “hate” respectively, in arabic.   This is sure to put my little Moxy Metals blog on the terrorist watch radar, so if you’re reading this FBI, hey!  And please use my tax dollars for something more relevant than reading my blog!  The pendants feature a nice contrast, with one sporting a high polish, and the other a deep liver of sulfur finish (that would be the hate).  They were hand cut from 10 guage sterling silver after a sheet wax casting mishap.  They’re about 1/4″ wide, and 1 and 1 1/4″ long, respectively, to give you a sense of the scale.  I think they came out pretty well, and the clients were happy, so here’s hoping for more work with them in the future.
